Our Logo Made From Thousands of Lego Bricks
- A few years ago I found myself at our local Orlando Lego store in Downtown Disney and was amazed at the number of interesting Lego sets and how realistic some of them were. It took me back to my younger years where I remember playing for hours building endless castles and spaceships, which would eventually be destroyed and rebuilt into something else!
While at the store I couldn't resist and bought a small set for myself "for fun". Little did I know this was the start of what has now grown into a large hobby of mine. I now get great enjoyment from recreating places I have visited to creating small dioramas out of Lego. I have come to learn there are thousands of Adult Fans of Lego (AFOL), as they like to be called, who have built many awe inspiring creations, some of them contain over 200,000 bricks!!
A few months ago, inspiration struck and I thought why don't I build our Rent A Knee Walker Company logo out of Lego?
So I set to and started making a few small concept models of particular sections, and realized the scale of the logo would be set by the words Knee Walker in Lego bricks. With the scale set I was then able to recreate the circle, while somehow incorporating the leg resting on the knee walker, which proved to be the most challenging section! But after many attempts I settled on the design above, which I felt recreated the logo very well, while still fitting within the circle of the logo.
Upon completion I just didn't feel it was right without adding a little fun, so I added 2 Lego minifigures.
The first one you can see below is a painter, who is very keen to keep our logo fresh and painted! The second one is "Harry" as he has become known around the office, Harry is our Rent A Knee Walker mascot he likes to show off his skills on his personalized blue knee walker, which resembles our Swivelmate model!
It took me about 2 months from the first concept to the finished Rent A Knee Walker Logo. It is made up of just over 2100 Lego bricks and has 5 colors, and weighs about 8 lbs.
It now hangs proudly in our Altamonte Springs offices.
